If your day is lacking excitement, check this. Two of the most controversial rap groups in music history are nominated to be inducted into the great Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame. Emerging from the streets of Compton(Niggas With Attitude) and Long Island, New York(Public Enemy) during the crack infested era of Ronald Reagan, these artists turned rap into a vocal documentary of a life ignored by the powers that be. They broke racial barriers in music(MTV) and N.W.A. introduced a new genre of music; Gangsta Rap. Public Enemy, who were not as "gangsta", held up the political voice in Black communities; especially with their anthem created for Spike Lee's Do the Right Thing, Fight the Power.
Yeah, Let us keep our fingers crossed. The Art of Rap is now starting to get its overdue recognition.
All together now, let's hear it... Yeeeeeeeaaaaaah Booooooiiiii!
