President Obama suspended his campaign for days in preparation for the deployment of the superstorm Sandy, and now it appears it may help his reelection effort.

President Obama gets sky-high marks for his response to Hurricane Sandy, which cut a brutal path along the country’s East Coast on Monday, according to the latest release of the Washington Post-ABC News tracking poll.

Nearly eight in 10 likely voters say the president has done an “excellent” or “good” job dealing with what’s been labeled a “super storm.” Almost as many give positive reviews to the federal government’s response generally. Even two-thirds of those who support Republican Mitt Romney in next week’s presidential election say Obama is doing well in this area.

Obama has repeatedly tried to decry the "politicization" of the Hurricane, but it seems that with each tragedy, politics always end up playing a role.

Christie and Obama.

Obama has teamed with Republican New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, touring the Garden State together in the destruction left behind by Sandy. Christie, who gave the keynote address at the 2012 Republican National Convention and was formerly an ardent critic of Obama, has said that the President "sprang into action immediately," and shows "concern and compassion" for New Jersey. Chrisite said that "it's been a great working relationship."
